About Amersham
Amersham is a civil parish and market town situated in the ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire. There are two distinct areas in this market town, and the first one is the Old Amersham where it is situated near the River of Misbourne and still contains some of its old buildings such as coaching inns, old pubs, and even the 13th-century St, Mary’s Parish. The second one is the Amersham-on-the-hill that grew around the Metropolitan Railway around the 20th century.
What is Amersham Famous For?
The village of Amersham was famous for burning seven religious dissenters in the early portion of the 15th century during the rule of King Henry VIII. They were burned because of their criticism of Catholicism as they supported the reformation of Christianity. In 1931, a memorial was erected in the stake where they were burned and has become one of its historical attractions at the centre of the town.
Is Amersham A Good Place To Live?
Hambleden Valley and Amersham have been the two places where it was considered to be the best in Southeastern England, according to Sun times. They passed in flying colours as they have a positive remark on many factors such as air quality, schools, transport, culture, internet speed, and green spaces. So, if you plan on buying a house or renting a place in Southeastern England, you can choose either of the two.
