About Marlow
The civil parish of Marlow is situated in the district of Buckinghamshire and along the River Thames. The name Marlow comes from recorded evidence back in 1015 where it was named Mere Lafan, or land left after the draining of the pond.
It was just a manor during the Norman times but has since become a borough and became the Great Marlow. During the early parts of the 19th century, Marlow was divided into two, the Great Marlow Civil Parish and the Great Marlow Urban district.
