An English countryside town in the Aylesbury Vale district of Buckinghamshire, England, Dorton is a small and charming place with just over 160 people. There are several establishments in the area and a couple of small shops.
The most popular attraction in Dorton is probably the old church, which is still in use today. The surrounding countryside is also very beautiful and great for hiking or cycling.
Saint John, the Evangelist’s Church of England parish church, is a 12th-century building with a 13th-century porch. The church’s interior has been restored and contains a number of exciting features, such as a 13th-century lancet window.
Another popular attraction in the area is the Dorton House, a mansion built in the 15th century. The house is now used as a venue for weddings and other events. Its structure makes it one of the most impressive buildings in the area.
There was also once a chalybeate spring called Dorton Spa. It is no longer in use, but the site where it was located is now a historic reserve.
Ashford School is situated within the heart of Dorton village. The independent and prep school for boys and girls has been educating pupils since 1927. Dorton Park is tucked behind the school, which offers an excellent environment for picnics and ball games.
The Brook Farm Barns are also located within the heart of the home and offer rural office accommodation. The carefully converted barns have been sympathetically designed to provide a rustic and stylish working environment for those who desire an office within the Buckinghamshire countryside.
The townsfolk of Dorton are friendly and welcoming, and it’s a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Dorton is definitely worth considering if you’re looking for a quiet, picturesque town to call home.
