Great and Little Kimble is located at the foot of the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, England. The village holds four ancient villages: Great Kimble, Little Kimble, Kimblewick and Marsh, and Smokey Row.
Steeped in history, this village is home to farmers thousands of years ago and the site where John Hampden refused to pay ship money.
Great and Little Kimble is home to several historical buildings and sites. The Pulpit Hill fort is situated in Great Kimble and has been there for thousands of years. It was used as a hunting lodge and a ritual place for agricultural and religious purposes.
The village is also home to several churches. The Church of St. Nicholas in Great Kimble was built in the 12th century and is a grade I listed building. The church has many historical features, including an Aylesbury font, a 14th-century arch, and a nave.
Little Kimble also has a church, the All Saints Church, built in the 12th century. Although much smaller than the Great Kimble church, it still has an impressive architecture.
If you’re looking for a place to stay, there are several beds and breakfasts nearby, and the surrounding countryside is perfect for walks and picnics.
There are many amenities in the village, including a village hall, a pub, an Indian restaurant, and several business establishments. Schools are also close by, and a regular bus service serves the town.
Its location is a perfect base to explore the surrounding countryside and be within commuting distance of London.
The village has a strong community spirit with many clubs and societies for residents to get involved in. Great and Little Kimble is a beautiful village with a lot to offer. It’s perfect for those who want to enjoy the serenity of the countryside while still being close to all the amenities of a town or city.
